Keepsake Flower Photo

Hello and welcome back to the blog! Mother's Day is always one of those holidays where, in my opinion, the best gifts are the cute little handmade gifts that come from children. Those are the kinds that I remember my parents keeping from when my sister and I were younger and I know, too, they are the ones that I look back on always with a smile.

In this post, I wanted to share with you the gift that my son and I made to give to his grandmas this Mother's Day. It's quite a simple and inexpensive gift that will also hold up rather well over the years.

Here are there the supplies that you will need:

A white photo frame (mine was only $1.46 from Walmart), some glue, scissors, a marker, some pastel colored card stock (I found this at Target or you could also just use printer paper that you color or construction paper), and a picture of your child.

The first thing I did was take out the paper that comes in the frame and used it to cut out my backdrop. I used a pastel blue card stock for the background.

Next, I took the photo of my son and just cut out a circle around his face. I felt strange cutting the photo... almost like I was breaking some sort of unspoken rule.😂 Anyway, I just cut this circle around his face, as this would be the center of the flower.

I then chose another color of card stock (I did one flower in purple, one in pink, and one in yellow) and began cutting out leaf shapes. I cut out about six petals and began arranging them on the background along with the picture.

I took some green card stock and cut out a stem and then two leaves. I put this down on the background and got them to where I liked them as well. Then I just glued everything down.

While the flower dried, I cut out a little label to put on the back of the picture frame. I simply just wrote "Happy Mother's Day, *insert grandma name* love, AJ" along with his age and the year. I let him color these labels just because that's really all he can do right now is color.

And there you have it, an inexpensive and easy Mother's Day (or another occasion) handmaid gift. I really like that this gift is in a frame because that just makes it that much more sturdy for long-term saving. At this point, my grandmother has already opened hers and truly enjoyed it.

Of course, if your child is older they can obviously help out a lot more in making the craft, you could decorate the flower more, use different colors or even decorate the frame. Basically, just get as creative as you want. It's a very flexible craft so you can easily add your own flair to it which makes it all the more special.

I hope you have found this post hopeful and can use this as a nice keepsake for your little ones.s

Until next time.
